Ships log for the yacht "Sparrow" an Ian Anderson designed 'Hurley 20', sail no. 109, launched 16th November 1967. This is the day to day stuff involved with owning and sailing a small boat, so nothing earth shattering but there'll also hopefully be some adventures along the way..
...and with just one casual flick of the tail (23:30 they think) completely and totally cr*pped on one of my fellow club members... I'm absolutely gutted for him, she was his pride and joy...
It's heartbreaking when this happens. You would think a bilge keeler sitting on her own ballast would be very safe - but wind gusts in storms can be very severe.
The keel that is closest to the ground looks as though its been bent? although this could just be an optical thing with the camera lens (or my glasses).
I looked and the keels *looked* ok, no cracks or deformation round the keel plates on the hull... mast was totalled (3 parts), so furler as well, and I've heard 2nd hand that the gunwhales are badly cracked where she landed on them... heavy lifting crane was on site as I went past this morning, like you I really hope the repairs are quick and painless....

I do hope the owner gets this sorted.
